Engineering, products, and the systems behind them.
Almuthanna Shihab is a software engineer and the founder of Nexren. He built the file-conversion product FilesMagic and the iOS pantry app Fresh Pantry, and he is currently a student at Northern Illinois University. His background spans full-stack engineering, system architecture, technical operations, automation, and product development.
Software engineer and founder.
My work has moved from technical support and systems troubleshooting into automation, full-stack product development, architecture, and technical leadership. That progression matters: reliable software depends on understanding the operational reality around it, not only the interface or framework.
From operations to architecture.
I have worked with frontend systems, backends and APIs, authentication, databases, Python and SQL automation, mobile products, IT operations, and product strategy. My professional experience includes STACK, Northern Illinois University, Alpha Baking, and other roles documented on the experience page.
FilesMagic
I built FilesMagic, a file-conversion product with a website and an iPhone app. Most conversions run on FilesMagic's own conversion service.
Fresh Pantry
I built Fresh Pantry, an iOS app for tracking pantry inventory, expiration dates, and a shopping list. Version 1.0.0 was released on the App Store on September 23, 2026.
Nexren.
I founded Nexren in September 2024. It is a software and digital systems business, and my role combines engineering with project definition, client communication, technical decisions, and delivery.
Education.
I am currently a student at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Alongside my studies, I have worked at the university in technical operations, tutoring, and a marketing apprenticeship; those roles are listed on the experience page.
Featured in UAE Business Times.
In February 2026, UAE Business Times Magazine published an independent feature covering my technology leadership, work with STACK, and Nexren. The feature reflects the professional context at the time of publication; see the press page for details.
