What Fresh Pantry is

Fresh Pantry is an iOS app for keeping track of the food a household already has. It is built around a pantry inventory, so it is easier to see what food is at home and what is close to expiring.

The released app, as described on the App Store, includes:

Pantry inventory tracking
Expiration-date monitoring
Quantities, categories, and storage locations
Search and filtering
Adding, editing, and removing items
Shopping list

My role

I built Fresh Pantry and released it on the Apple App Store, which lists Almuthanna Shihab as its developer. It is one of two products I have taken from development to public release; the other is FilesMagic. More about my background is on the about page.

Release

Fresh Pantry launched publicly as version 1.0.0 on September 23, 2026 and is live on the Apple App Store. Its primary App Store category is Food & Drink, with Lifestyle as the secondary category.

Data model and privacy

Pantry and shopping data are stored on the device, no account is required, and core functionality works offline. The App Store privacy section lists Data Not Collected. Version 1.0.0 launched without a backend or account system.

Because there is no account system, there is no sign-up step before someone can start tracking their pantry.

Product experience

The screenshots below come from a pre-release build. The inventory and expiration screens match released features; the barcode entry and meal planner shown in that build are not confirmed as 1.0.0 features. The App Store listing shows the current release.

Current status

Fresh Pantry is live on the App Store. No download totals, ratings, user counts, or other usage figures are presented here because they are not part of the public record used for this case study.
